Lawrence and the University

The University of Kansas (KU) is located in Lawrence, Kansas near metropolitan Kansas City in the heart of the U.S. KU has a remarkable setting atop hills in the center of Lawrence. It looks out over the Kansas River valley and the rolling country of eastern Kansas. Lawrence is proud of its beautiful downtown area, much of which dates back to the 19th century. The downtown has lively entertainment, dining, and shopping choices. The music and arts scene in Lawrence is known nationally.
